| January 2001 - Exergen Corporation Introduces the SnakeEyeTM Non-Contact Sensor |
| SnakeEyeTM Non-Contact Thermal Sensor |
Exergen Corporation, a leading manufacturer of infrared temperature sensors, introduces its SnakeEye non-contact sensors for infrared thermal switching. Using patented new state-of-the-art infrared techniques, the SnakeEye provides the ability to "see" each product in real time, improving the manufacturing process and maximizing quality and throughput in a wide variety of industries, such as food, packaging and pharmaceutical. |
The SnakeEye is as easy to use as a photocell, but unlike a photocell, it can apply Exergen's infrared technology to read the heat signature created by the any thermally sensitive sealant and activate an output switch set to the desired level of sensitivity. It is ideal for use in hot melt adhesive inspection and thermal signature inspection.
Exergen's SnakeEye is installed downstream of the heat source, and, utilizing two solid state switches, it detects the thermal presence of the leading and trailing edges of the heat source with an adjustable level of sensitivity. Two speed ranges are available: an -LS model for low speed and an -HS model for high speed.
Exergen's SnakeEye has a 5msec-response time for fast, accurate temperature sensing. It has a 1500ft/min (500m/min) maximum line speed. The SnakeEye can sense hot melt adhesive beads from as small as .01" (.25mm) with an unlimited maximum sensing range and can read a 4°F (2°C) temperature difference. Exergen offers its SnakeEye in a stainless steel, hermetically sealed housing for durability in extreme environments. The SnakeEye meets or exceeds all applicable NEMA ratings. Four different SnakeEye models are available to meet specific customer needs. |
